For the past few seasons, I’ve been working on expanding my coat closet from two somewhat similar black coats to a coat closet that might rival that of Miranda Priestly from the Devil Wears Prada. To be sure, it’s a great fashion goal, but it has proven to be a very daunting task. Finding beautiful, interesting, timeless coats in plus sizes often feels impossible, especially when there are still only a handful of stores that are truly committed to providing amazing plus-size options.
So, in order to have more choices, I’ve been venturing into the straight-size coat sections a bit more and just hoping for the best. I’ve actually been successful quite a few times. One of my favorite finds is the printed coat from River Island that I bought a couple of seasons ago from ASOS. It pairs beautifully with skirts or pants and can easily be worn in the fall or spring.
If you’re looking to add a few more pieces to your coat closet too, definitely give the straight section a try. Considering the variations in women’s sizing, you never know what you may find.
