White Noise

Nothing irritates me more than people, magazines, etc. telling plus-size women what not to wear.  Like…seriously?!  They say, with such authority might I add, that we can’t wear horizontal stripes, bold prints, all white, etc.  Well, why not?  I just can’t figure out how anyone can arbitrarily decide what will and will not look good on an entire group of people, especially when that group has such a variety of shapes.  So, my goal, today and everyday, is to encourage you to break the “rules” and wear whatever makes you feel good.

For the past few weeks, what’s made me feel good is off the shoulder everything and this pretty little white dress that I’ve been waiting to wear since I bought it back in January. I was on the hunt for the perfect plus-size white dress for ages and lucked upon this one from Eloquii during one of their amazing sales (got it for $22). What’s great about this dress is that it can be worn off the shoulder, as a tube dress and it can even be tucked into a skirt (and worn as a top).  It really was a great buy.

Many of you may be a bit hesitant to wear white from head to toe, but there’s nothing to it. It’s all about finding pieces that fit you well. Check out my previous posts here and here for other examples of how to wear all white. And if you are still living for head-to-toe white looks, but you’re concerned about that no white after Labor Day rule, don’t worry about it. Those rules are arbitrary and completely archaic. So, wear what you want.

Style Notes: I slightly altered this dress before wearing it. I had the sides taken in so it would have more of a pencil shape.

Thanks for reading and enjoy the rest of Labor Day weekend.
